How to Prepare for Your Boudoir Session | Boston Goddess Boudoir Photography
Preparing for your boudoir photography session is one of the best ways to make sure you feel relaxed, confident, and excited when you walk into the studio. Whether you're celebrating a milestone, marking a new chapter, or simply doing something for yourself, a little preparation goes a long way.
Choose Outfits That Make You Feel Incredible
Bring 3 to 5 outfits that make you feel beautiful and confident. They don't have to be expensive, but they should fit your body today, not the body you're hoping to have a few months from now.
Try everything on several days before your appointment to make sure it fits comfortably and makes you feel amazing.
Not sure what to wear? Don't worry. During your wardrobe consultation, we'll help you select pieces that flatter your body, and you'll also have access to our growing studio wardrobe filled with beautiful robes, bodysuits, silks, and accessories.
You're welcome to bring heels, meaningful jewelry, your partner's button-down shirt, an oversized sweater, or anything that tells your story.
Prepare Your Hair and Skin
Healthy, hydrated skin photographs beautifully.
Drink plenty of water during the two days leading up to your session, and moisturize regularly.
Avoid trying any new skincare products, chemical peels, spray tans, or cosmetic treatments during the week before your appointment. Your skin should have time to settle before your Massachusetts boudoir photography experience.
If you color your hair, wax, or shape your brows, schedule those appointments about one week before your session.
Wash your hair the day before your appointment whenever possible. Hair that isn't freshly washed generally styles and holds curls much better.
Don't Forget Your Nails
Your hands appear in many photographs, so a fresh manicure is always a nice finishing touch.
Neutral shades, classic red, black, or a clear polish all photograph beautifully.
A pedicure is optional, but it's worth considering if your feet will be visible.
What to Wear When You Arrive
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing to the studio.
Avoid tight bras, leggings, socks, or waistbands that leave marks on your skin. These pressure marks can take time to disappear.
Arrive with a clean, moisturized face unless we've discussed something different. Professional hair and makeup are part of your luxury boudoir experience, so there's no need to arrive camera-ready.
Eat Before Your Session
Please eat a full meal about 60 to 90 minutes before arriving.
You'll be changing outfits, posing, laughing, and moving throughout your session, and you'll feel much better with plenty of energy.
Continue drinking water throughout the day, and try to avoid excessive alcohol or very salty foods the night before.
What to Bring
We recommend bringing:
- 3 to 5 favorite outfits
- Nude and black underwear
- A strapless bra if you own one
- Heels (optional)
- Jewelry and accessories
- Sentimental pieces you'd like photographed
- A robe or comfortable cover-up
- A bottle of water and a light snack
Relax. You Don't Need to Know How to Pose.
One of the biggest concerns we hear is, "I've never done this before."
Perfect.
You don't need any modeling experience.
During your Boston Goddess boudoir photography session, you'll be guided through every pose, every hand placement, every expression, and every angle. We'll coach you step by step, so you never have to wonder what to do next.
Most women arrive feeling nervous.
Almost every woman leaves saying, "I can't believe that's me."
That's exactly the experience we want you to have.
